BKS Student Produced Films Add to Growing Achievement List!
Nothing could prepare Davie, Florida for the onslaught of fans that attended the film premieres of Specter, Caliens and Horizon. The BKS Cinema Film Festival Showcase Screening sponsored by Florida Children’s Performing Arts Foundation was unleashed on this sleepy town. No one is sure if it will ever recover from the amount of talent that descended upon the Paragon Ridge Theaters on May 21, 2015.
BKS’ own Mass Media Instructor Donald Dowd worked all year with these young and talented artists to develop the original screenplays. They toiled over scripts, drew storyboards, and spent countless hours in casting calls and scouting locations. This talented team even crafted the movie scores and films. It was clear by the bloopers that they left a few funny moments on the cutting room floor (very few). But these movies were not for fans of comedy only; they left the audience sitting on the edge of their seats in anticipation of what was going to happen next!
After the Premier, all of the participants received a rare ticket to attend the red carpet awards and after party at the world renowned Broadway Kids Studio. They enjoyed time with the Paparazzi (FotosAzul), sipped on the finest Shirley Temples and enjoyed savory and sweet treats. The awards and acceptance speeches left few dry eyes in the room. Once the beat dropped and the BKS DJ’s arrived there was nothing but smiles on the dance floor! Clearly these all-stars will be seen again in the near future!!
